Further to our post of last week the two halves of the work boat that were delivered by road are beginning to take shape. The bridge and wheel house have been added. At the moment the two halves of the hull have yet to be joined. We understand there will be a lot of welding to do before she can be launched! Watch this space for further developments.
Today the second section of the Kocurec Macduff work boat was delivered by road transport to the work site on the Admiralty Pier. Now all that has got to happen is that the work crew and the welders have got to get the two sections lined up and then welded together! Launch date approximately two months time. Watch this space…..
This morning the Shotley Marina Yard crew lifted the Trinity House Pilot Boat Haven Harrier. She had damaged her port propeller on some debris whilst on her way to deliver a Pilot to one of the in bound ships coming to Felixstowe docks. This was changed and the Harrier was back in the water within a couple of hours. The marina provides 24 hour emergency cover for lifting the Pilot boats if they get into any problems, 365 days of the year.
Today we had the first section of a work boat delivered to the Admiralty Pier close to the marina. The boat is a Macduff Ship Design and is a 24.5m Multi Mac. The main hull is in two sections and is being transported by road with a police escort from Ipswich to Shotley. The next section will arrive on Thursday 16th February. The land on the Admiralty Pier which belongs to Shotley marina has been made available to Kokurek for two months to allow for completion and launching from the site.
